In the summer jumbo pack of Disney magazine, they had a large section devoted to DMC, including an "offical movie comic." It took me absolutely forever to scan it all and upload it, so enjoy it! Feel free to make icons, graphics, whatever. :)
Damn. So let me get this straight: Jack is an utter asshole who would betray the man who saved his life to Davy Jones, so he can steal his girlfriend? I didn't think he was supposed to be that easy to peg - he's like a soap opera villain, someone the writers turn evil at whim to achieve a creaking 90-degree plot twist that wouldn't turn naturally.
And Elizabeth is in LOVE with this type of behavior? Dear Christ.
Actually, as far as I can tell, the cartoonist didn't even have a copy of the movie to go on because the facts are often wrong. Especially the final scenes. Jack did not meet the Kraken tied to the mast, for one. Jack sent Will to get the key, not to get rid of Will. Jack couldn't get it because he'd have to stay on Jones' ship. Will was an innocent who hadn't sworn an oath to Jones and could therefore leave the Flying Dutchman. Jack tries to swindle Jones into giving Will back. And unlike Bill, he isn't stupid enough to let Jones know the kid can be used as leverage. And then he tries to find the chest so he can bargain with Jones. Jack's only a scoundrel, not a villain. He gets people into fixes and then tries to get them out again, but not at the expense of his own hide, until the end. If he'd wanted Elizabeth that bad the compass would have pointed to her. But he wants other things just as bad. As far as I can tell, the cartoonist only had a copy of the script and none of the actual movie in order to see the nuances of a performance. And the point of the compass's behaviour for Jack seems to be entirely lost.
What's noticeable is that much of the dialogue is changed, and the actions/plot/behaviours etc may be tinkered to suit a faithful adaptation particularly for younger readers.
But the illustrations are fab! Thanks for uploading them Shall be making icons/banners soon ;)
Also, although the final kiss features more than it does in the kiddy novelisation, Will doesn't see it happen, so there's no angst for him at the end.... interesting...
Thank you for posting this! It was intereting to say the least. I'm not sure what to think of it. Many scenes were completely twisted...and now Jack is an evil villian who loves Elizabeth? Bleh.
It's a bad thing I did, but I actually burst out laughing at that one. Nothing at all in there about the ship he spent ten years trying to find and wrestle away from Barbossa. Once again, Goddess Elizabeth trumps all!
That is, without doubt, the worst comic art I have ever seen! Jack looks like Jafar, Elizabeth looks like Jane in the abortion they called Tarzan. Cheap and utter garbage! They did a few comix right about COTBP came out and the art was quite good instead of this. I wouldn't line the parrot's cage with it!
Very sad! With all that money, they couldn't afford a professional artist who could actually render the characters properly. Shame on the Cheapskate Mouse!
Thank you for posting these,I know what a hassle it can be to scan and upload more than a couple of pages - and you've saved me from wasting money on such a bad adaptation.

HO-Lee Sheee-yet! That is just plain wrong on so many levels. lol. I'm betting anyone who reads just this comic before viewing #3 will be expecting a different movie entirely.
I forgot to say that in my first post, as well, longlostblue. The content pisses me off, but I appreciate the time you put into scanning them, since I know what a pain in the neck that is to do. *G*
Methinks the comic book artist was a Jack/Elizabeth shipper.
I do hope I'm not the only one who thinks the Kraken's tentacles vaguely resemble penises, which is kind of disturbing since its head looks like a vagina.
I saw a critic's movie review of DMC that referenced the whole "kraken as vagina splooging all over Jack" thing. It was a definite "ewwww" but sort of humorous.
*KILLS them for characterization of Norrington* ...or rather, lack of. >_> Why is everything so black and white with these people? Nevermind the "Alright, we get it! Beckett is EVIL!" way of drawing him. Gah. Like children can't recognize a villain unless he's ugly.
Poor James. The other characters look *somewhat* like their actors, some more than others. But Norrington looks nothing like JackDav; he's not even dirty.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post all of this; it must have taken forever. But... Holy blatant exposition, Batman!! It would have been better if they hadn't so obviously taken sides. But I suppose we can't expect too much, can we? And the art is terrible. No one looks like their character at all.
This made me laugh wayyyy too much then it should have. While I am fond of the style and the caracitures how they chopped up the story to make it kid friendly is just so sad it's funny. I mean, why not show Jack the monkey getting shot yet show Will stabbing a fella?
'N Where's Barbossa?? Eh? S'not impressed with that. But still.
Hahahaha in that last page Tia Dalma is totally replaced by Cheetara - lookit it! SWORD OF OMENS, GIVE ME SIGHT BEYOND SIGHT! THUNDER, THUNDER, THUNDER CATS, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
